Palin is quick on her feet!

Check out this video where she squashes a heckler at one of her speeches. One of the many reasons I *heart* Sarah.

This reminds me of the church behavior I witnessed from the pulpit growing up...lies about other church members angry and desperate..."judge not that ye be not judged"!

Saw you on CNN yes!! I think there is a huge silent minority. no one ever asked me to be in a poll either. I'll stand behind Sarah in anything, she's the only REAL person in this race and I say send her to Washington!!

I think this video of Palin is more interesting.

Incidentally, why wasn't she so quick on her feet when she was asked basic questions about important Supreme Court decisions and her foreign policy experience?

I agree with her federalist take on Roe v. Wade, but I'll take a Harvard law grad with intellectual brilliance over an audacious neophyte any day, even if we don't agree on some important policy issues.

We either elect competent leaders, or we find ourselves overshadowed by China, Russia, and even India in the not-so-distant future.

You've got to be a patriot and put the future of your country ahead of personal likability.

The argument Palin makes in that video, that Obama voted to "cut off funding" to the troops, is deceptive:

The McCain campaign's "ad facts" also point to a single troop-funding bill that Obama voted against in 2007. As we've written before, Obama first voted for a version of the bill that included a timetable for withdrawal. President Bush vetoed the bill. Obama then voted against a version that did not contain withdrawal language. And for the record, McCain himself voted against the troop-funding bill when it contained withdrawal language.

we dont need a "real person", we dont need someone who is "the kind of person you can sit down and have snacks with" you need an intellectual, which she isnt, you need someone level headed, she isnt, and most importantly, you dont need an outsider to the white house, you need someone who knows how things work, knows foreign policy, knows what to do and when to do it. she may be fine for a governor but she isnt not vice presidential material.

I am ashamed of you so-called christians that would support a liar like Sarah Palin who would refer to Obama as a sambo or keep silent as a crowd yelled kill him. You do not represent God's love but the KKK rule book. Then to hear Sarah refer to Obama as a muslim terrorist? Isn't this the same person that claimed he was sitting in front of a PENTACOSTAL pastor for 20 years??? which one is it Sarah???. Sarah is a liar. Shame on you all for supporting her lies. She does not represent free thinking, God loving, christian women of the world. She does represent backwoods water drinking morons like you. Good luck.

I am so glad to know that there are other people out their who think like me! Even if I did not agree with Palin, I would not throw her under the bus the way these self professed feminists are. It is so sad to see a woman get this close to breaking the glass ceiling, yet be demonized because of her personal beliefs. Doesn't anyone realize we can have personal beliefs yet still be respectful of the law of the land?

Please keep up the good work.

The last time I heard someone so proud of a person running for office that was quick on their feet with sarcastic remarks and jokes was about Dick Cheney!
I don't support Sarah Palin, I am a stay at home mom that has put my career on hold while I am doing the MOST important job! We can't have it all we have to make choices and I would have had a lot more respect for her if she had decided to pursue her political career, especially the vice presidency until her children were at least in school. I believe this for ALL moms unless you have to work to maintain the bills.

Elizabee,

You definitely have a point that we should be able to support a candidate, even when we may disagree on religion or other personal matters. I'm an example of this, as I'm an atheist who voted for Ron Paul, a passionate Christian. I felt that he demonstrated humility and kindness and a profound understanding of economics. And he's incredibly experienced in both domestic and foreign policy issues.

By comparison, Palin's religious beliefs seem a little kooky to me, after seeing the witchcraft video, and reading about her view that creationism is a legitimate part of a school science curriculum.

And while I think experience is less important than factors like integrity and intelligence, I'm concerned about Palin's dearth of experience and accumulated knowledge. Barack Obama has a Columbia University political science degree and a Harvard law degree. He has held public office for 10 years, and has served on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Palin has no academic background in government or law, and was the mayor of a small Alaska town before being governor of a sparsely populated state for two years.

But a crucial issue that stands out from the rest is simply her record of cut-throat dishonesty. As conservative blogger Andrew Sullivan puts it:

Palin could not have asked her girls for permission to accept McCain's veep offer if she also says she accepted the offer unblinkingly and right away. Palin did fire a police chief even as she insisted to a reporter she hadn't. She did violate the confidential medical records of Mike Wooten. She hasn't met with any trade missions from Russia. She does not have any gay friends that anyone can find. She did not oppose the Bridge to Nowhere. She did not sell that plane on eBay. Her Teleprompter did not fail in her convention speech. Alaska's state scientists did not conclude that polar bears were in no danger. She did deny publicly that humans had anything to do with climate change.

Alaska does not provide "nearly 20 percent of the U.S. domestic supply of energy," as she claimed. The gas pipeline she touts as her major "mission accomplished" has not broken ground and may never do so. She did not take a pay-cut as mayor of Wasilla. And on and on. Anyone with Google can check all of these out. Including reporters.

With all due respect, Todd Palin and their older children probably have plenty of time to attend to her baby while she's on the road campaigning, or serving in office.

Of course, I've still seen no proof that Trig is her baby.

I am an OLD white woman and I'm appalled by Sarah Palin's behavior. Inciting people to assassinate any candidate running for the presidency of the U.S. should be a capital offense. This is not a Christian woman. You young women beware of Satan beckoning to you disguised as Sarah Palin.

What makes you guys think that this woman can be a Vice President, she can't even control her own household, which is one of the reasons you see that her own daughter is pregnant.Secondly, she lacks ethics by mixing her position as a Governor with her family issues. She is just george Bush in a skirt, a Northern Extremist, reckless and inexperienced,America will never sleep if she is V.P. We need to retire her old buddie McCain and leave her where she belongs in Alaska where no one knows about her. For Christ sakes "Gods will is not Foreign Policy", she's an Alaskan Disaster! hey Hockey mom Keep the PUCK out of D.C.!!!!!!!!!

To all the people railing against Palin with lots of capital letters and exclamation points, I think you ought to consider out unobjective you sound when you choose to express anger and frustration instead of simply stating your case and citing evidence to back you up.

This is not how we have a national dialog. Let's be more reasonable. Our country has too many problems to behave this way.

LOL, Palin is a simple minded racist baby factory. I saw that CNN interview, the whole "she gets me" is a total joke. So because she squeezed out 5 kids and has a vagina means she gets you? Understand this, Bush and the republican party has ruined America. Our economy is in a freefall, we are engaged in 2 wars (one of which we should have never been in in the first place), we still havent caught Bin Laden, we have the most expensive and worst health care system in the world, our infrastructure system is a joke. Yet there you are, voting for more of the same. Have fun living in a trailer park and using food stamps. I laugh at morons like you. God damn you jesus freaks!

I cant believe you are voting for someone who openly advocates her supporters to kill a presidential candidate. You make me sick. This is supposed to be Christian behavior? Stop drinking the neocon koolaid and wake up.

It is a very sad thing that the campaign is turning as ugly as it is. I wish it were that there was more focus on the issues that matter to people's lives. I also find it sad that so many people are caught up in what was condemned about Barack Obama, "Rock Star status". What's sad about it is that there are those that are more concerned about someone looking like them than they are cognizant of if the person is truly proven.

Sarah Palin perhaps, in her short run as Governor, has done well in Alaska. But let's be clear, if you only govern 670,000 people you should have time to nitpick your jurisdiction and get it in tip top order. The City of Chicago, in Sen. Obama's State, has more than 2,700,000 people in the city limits. There is 3 times more the population in the City of Chicago than in the State of Alaska. Would Gov. Palin had faired as well with the problems of high crime, lack of natural resources to produce a state budget surplus and a host of other things that exist in a state with huge population centers?

Beyond that, I have heard people praising Gov. Palin's faith convictions; isn't it a problem when you're a Christian to deliberately tell lies? It took weeks of media exposure in different ways before Gov. Palin stopped talking about "The Bridge to Nowhere". Is something considered telling the truth simply because the person is "spirited" as they make their point?

Let's see, how is it that there is nothing but praise about Gov. Palin's daughter? I find it ironic that it's reported like it's an okay thing that Gov. Palin's daughter IS getting married to the father of her unborn child as to impose that getting married after the fact somehow underminds the wrong doing (according to the tenants of Christian faith)of premarital sex. If this were one of Sen. Obama's daughters we'd be hearing the report read something like this, "Sen. Obama is being questioned about his ability to govern the nation since it seems that he's finding challenges managing his own household".

It's a common thing that we give those that we feel an affinity with the major benefit of the doubt. Is energizing a base the only thing that matters no matter how you energize the base if part of your claim to fame is righteousness?

All you here of this Sisterhood should go to YouTube and search for Michelle Laxalt on Larry King Live. She is a Conservative who hit it on the head.

I was listening to and reading about the "race" factor of the 2008 Election discussion over the last few days and then something fell on me like a revelation of sort. This came swiftly to mind behind our boastings of being the "Greatest Nation on Earth".

I sent this to several news outlets already and thought I'd share it with you also.

comment below:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This puzzles me. As much as it is recognized that ethnicity will be a factor in this 2008 Election I am astonished at the lack of prominent media figures coming out and openly condemning bigoted behavior and views. Yeah sure, everyone will say it's there as the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about as though acknowledging it is righteous enough.

Shouldn't we be to the point now that when we see this we openly shake our heads at it instead of trying to make those with racist dispositions feel comfortable? A racist can make the observation that has been made and appear to be objective about it!

IT IS A SHAME THAT THIS BEHAVIOR IS STILL SO PREVALENT AND UNCONTESTED. Calling it "a shame" and a National Disgrace is what should be said about this.

Is anyone there bold enough with their progressive thinking to do this? It just seems like a moral obligation to call "wrong" out for what it is when it is identified, unless we're saying that there is nothing morally wrong with BIGOTRY.

She is an amazing woman who will bring great perspective and a good (and much needed) dose of reality to Washington.

I am so glad she has thick skin because it must be hard to hear and read such hateful lies on a daily basis.

I believe there is a strong silent majority and I must also say that thank goodness it is the majority because just imagine if our country was comprised of mainly the types that write these hateful comments. It would be an unregonizable mess. But that is actually what they want...these socialist, unmotivated, godless types that are so resentful of hard earned success and accomplishment and morals...ugh it is just disgusting to me.

Saw you all on CNN and thanked God that you are in the minority in this country! McCain-Palin will lose by a landslide on election day because most Americans are sane enough not to send Palin to the White House. Palin is an embarrassment to women and to our country. She associates with anti-American groups like the Alaska Independence Party, abuses her power as Governor, believes the Iraq war is a holy war, is a member of a church that spews hatred towards Jews and gays, incites people to violence at rallies, and is about as dumb as a doorknob.

Anonymous said...

Charity,

You say that Palin is an "amazing woman" and will bring "great perspective".

How do you reconcile that with the 17+ confirmed lies that she's told recently?

These aren't "hateful lies" I'm speaking - they are objective facts that you can easily verify.

imagine if our country was comprised of mainly the types that write these hateful comments. It would be an unregonizable mess.

Bush has plunged the country into a mess. And McCain and Palin support many of his most disastrous policies.

You can ignore the hateful comments here. Just look at the plain un-hateful facts I've cited. I don't hate McCain by any stretch of the imagination. But I do recognize that he and Palin are simply not qualified to lead a country.

But that is actually what they want...these socialist, unmotivated, godless types that are so resentful of hard earned success and accomplishment and morals...ugh it is just disgusting to me.

I'm not a socialist. I voted for Ron Paul. I grew up in poverty in rural Kansas, and I now live in San Francisco, which is full of wealthy lawyers and business people who worked hard for their success. And Obama, unlike McCain, worked his way from relatively poor beginnings to Harvard law school. He's the picture of self-determination and hard work, not socialism.

What kind of "morals" justify our needless invasion of Iraq, which caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people?

What kind of "morals" does Palin have when she refuses to retract her numerous lies?

What kind of "morals" made McCain and Palin paint Obama as a Muslim/terrorist?

Why don't you feel an obligation to vote as an informed citizen?

Does that mean being a racist, anti semite liar is a dose of reality? Or is that the KKK playbook you're talking about?

As a christian I do not support Sarah Palin.
I don't agree with her inciting a crowd and standing by silent as they scream for another man's blood. She talked about increasing the authority of the vice presidency, to help whom.. Women? Or the people Reagan fired from his campaign for thier dirty controlling tricks. And her stand on the environment?? I like to hunt too, but God commanded that 2 of every animal should be saved when Noah built the ark. Just because her husband works for the oil companies doesn't mean we should jepordize the environment. She is mean and nasty.. a pitbull wearing lipstick??? I wouldn't trust that with my daughter. I think she gave up control of her life to the McCain platform and is no better off then any other woman in a controlling environment.

It is TRULY TERRIFYING and PROOF of McCain's TOTAL LACK OF GOOD JUDGEMENT that he would nominate a woman like Sarah Palin TO BE OUR PRESIDENT in the event that he dies. He is 72 yrs. old. This is THE MOST STRESSFUL JOB IN THE WORLD. The possibility of incapacitating illness or death IS REAL FOR HIM.

Both Palin & McCain are HOTHEADS who DON'T THINK before they speak. Their unrealistic dream that Iraq will EVER be able to maintain democracy after we leave is just that.. UNREALISTIC. Our country is falling down, yet they want to keep us there spending BILLIONS each and every month. POOR JUDGEMENT in the HIGHEST DEGREE.
His ADMITTED inexperience with econimic issues! McCain HIMSELF has stated that the economy is "not his strong suit" and he would rather deal with foreign affairs! WE NEED a man of Obama's INTELLIGENCE to be able to deal equally with our economy and with foreign affairs. There are also a GREAT number of other reasons John McCain is dangerous to the future of the United States. When people around the world see McCain coming, they see the same thing as George Bush.

We have LOST SO MUCH RESPECT around the world in the last eight years. We need a man of Obama's intelligence, eloquence and open-mindedness to represent us around the world...

The Keating 5 situation... (Very interesting and a good view of bad judgement by McCain)

Look up VETRANS AGAINST McCAIN on the internet... (Also very interesting)

His idiotic plan for $5,000 that will be taxed for health insurance... tOO MANY MORE TO LIST HERE

THINK AMERICANS... THINK!!!

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT that McCain and Palin will be shutting their loud, obnoxious mouths very soon and going back to Arizona and Alaska and THAT will be a TRUE blessing from God.

Palin needs to worry about her less than perfect RECENT past... Not Obama's casual aquaintance YEARS and YEARS AGO...

And to take THE CHOICE of abortion away from women is THE DEFINITION of socialism if you ask me.

I'm a MOM like you and I'm a CHRISTIAN. It's between a woman and God as to what she chooses to do with her body.

PALIN SCARES ME AND McCAINS ERRATIC, TERRIBLE JUDGEMENT TERRIFIES ME.

i cant believe you people! i had so much respect for john mccain and was seriously torn between who to vote for, then he picked sara palin. 8 years ago we decided to elect a person that every christian would like and a guy who we would love to have at our backyard barbecue. guess what, that has not worked out really well and has caused our country to go in the complete opposite direction we were headed when he took office. how about this time we elect somebody who has a tremendous level of education (and not because his daddy got him into yale) and has a clear understanding of how things work and is intellectually superior to mccain and palin combined? in her only debate she kept complaining that biden kept going back to the past whenever he said what bush has done to us. but all she could say in her defense is that mccain was a maverick and talk about what he did in the past. also, why is she attacking obama personally and and claiming he "pals around with terrorists"? she wrote a speech for an organization who todd palin belongs to that wants to leave the u.s. the founder cursed our country cursed our flag and started this organization to leave and become its own country!!! she wants us to pressure the media to ask about obama but she refuses to do anymore interviews!!!
wake up people, she has been a governor for less than 2 years and has NO experience or knowledge in domestic, financial or foreign policies! but you women love her and want to vote for her because she seems like you? is that what qualifies a person to run the greatest country in the world during one of its most difficult times??? i know many women just like you, does that make them qualified as well? george washington, abraham lincoln, teddy roosevelt, kennedy, fdr, jackson etc. these were excellent presidents not because they said "gosh darnet" or "say it aint so" or some other stupid phrase, but because they were brilliant, exceptional, intellectual and had superior judgement and knowledge. not because they were the type who people wanted to have at their barbecue. not aborting a child because the baby has down syndrome is not something incredible! many women give birth to babies who they know will have down syndrome and not aborting it is not something amazing. on the contrary, if she did abort that baby she should be blamed but not aborting is the normal thing to do.
we need someone who can think quickly and make good judgements, not someone who gets stumped when asked what paper she reads. she brings NOTHING to the table. we are facing the greatest financial disaster since the great depression and we need someone who has the education and knowledge to get us out of it. you claim she understands you because she is an outsider to washington. guess what, obama is more like americans than anyone else in the campaign. biden, palin and mccain come from wealthy families. obama on the other hand was raised by a single mother on welfare, and worked his way into harvard. he knows what it is like not to be privleged. mccain came from a very big navy family and was upset when his father made him go to annapolis instead of princeton. by the way he finished one of the last in his class there. everything obama has is because he worked his tail off and because he is smarter. we dont need anymore paople in washingotn who are not brilliant, we need someone who is exceptinal. WAKE UP!!! palin is nothing special, she has done nothing, is not even allowed to do interviews anymore unless its with rush limbaugh, cant answer what supreme court decisions she disagrees with, has close ties to a group who wants to succeed from the u.s., has no knowledge about finance, lied continuously since she has been brought on the ticket, etc, etc, etc. you can go on forever about how much of a disaster she is and would be for this country, but you women like her because she is alot like you and gets you and you feel if she came into your home you would be able to talk to her like you knew eachother. do you know how stupid that sounds??? thats how you pick a leader??? based on how much you would get along with someone? as an educated woman with a masters degree in economics it makes me cringe when i heard you on cnn. if that is how you vote you obviously dont care about this country and dont care what condition you will leave it to your kids.

After the comment that Palin made...how her sons are fighting so that many of you can protest (i.e. freedom of speech), is just another stark reminder that many Americans have drifted away from reality. Although our soldiers and sailors, marines and airmen maybe fighting wars in other countries, they are fighting enemies foreign and domestic. Some of us understand the sacrifice they are making/have made. I can't honestly see a patriot who makes such a comment not wanting to support our military and their families.

The Democrates with all thier faults believe this. The Republicans have nothing but distain for the needy. They are like the Pharisees that wailed and prayed out loud so that all could hear them but in thier every day life they were for the rich and tried everyway posible to cheat the common people.
